Twenty Years of Regenerative Endodontics: How far we have come and where do we go from here?
By Dr. Jianing (Jenny) He, DDS, PhD

October 7, 2024 at the Hilton Dedham, 25 Allied Dr, Dedham, MA 02026

6PM Cocktail Hour and Vendor Showcase

7PM - 9PM Lecture (2 CE)

Dr. Jianing (Jenny) He received her dental degree from West China University of Medical Sciences in 1996, and a certificate in Endododontics and a PhD in Oral Biology from the University of Connecticut Health Center in 2003.

Dr. He has been actively involved in endodontic education, research, and clinical practice. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, and a fellow of American College of Dentists. She has published over 50 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and served on the Research and Scientific Affairs committee for the AAE (American Association of Endodontists). Dr. He is currently an Associate Editor of the Journal of Endodontics.

Dr. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry, and maintains a full-time private practice limited to Endodontics in Dallas, TX.

Abstract: Regenerative endodontics serves as a valuable treatment option to preserve immature necrotic teeth. The technique has evolved from an empirical novelty into an evidence-based practice over the last two decades. Significant progress has been made in the understanding of the regenerative process, and the materials and techniques used for regeneration. However, controverses and questions remain regarding the disinfection protocol and the predictability of the treatment. This presentation will review the most up-to-date evidence on regenerative endodontics; discuss recent advances and future directives in tissue engineering strategies incorporating novel scaffold materials and growth factors; and propose an evidence-based approach to clinical decision making in regenerative endodontics.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the key factors in the regeneration of the pulp-dentin complex.

  • Describe the clinical protocol of the regenerative endodontic procedure.

  • Discuss the indications and prognosis of the regenerative endodontic procedure.

  • Recognize the benefits and limitations of the regenerative endodontic procedure.
